I bought a Polerouter with GF bracelet from South America recently. The package arrived today but on opening I found only a rotten lime. I'm not yet sure who is to blame but it does look like the package may have been tampered with. I would be laughing if I wasn't crying.
Indeed. A calculated risk that didn't pay off. I paid by PayPal (and not friends & family). Anyone have any experience of claiming using Buyer Protection in this scenario?
Are you in North Americas ? Did you know the seller ? Hope at least your transaction was protected in some way.. For this reason, I guess OF is the best place . I keep on checking this place to buy something that's vintage, in my budget and from a trusted seller.. I have not yet bought anything from anybody yet but one thing I have understood in last few months is that guys here are will not let their reputation dent in anyway and for that matter I am willing to send my dollars even without getting the watch ( of course as long as the member has been here for a while) !
There's a guy posting at the movement who is expecting a 105.012-65 which he paid $2500 or so for from Peru. I wonder if he will get citrus fruit too.
I wonder how sellers who do this decide on the "replacement" item. Does it go "Hmm, I have a piece of fruit and this old sock. Ok, I did send an old sock last time so let's send the fruit".
Not sure which I would have preferred. To be fair, I'm not sure the seller is to blame. There is evidence that the box was opened and taped back up. Scoundrels!
PayPal should have your back. It’s the seller who’ll wind up being screwed unless he purchased insurance.
About 15 years ago I bought watches from a guy in BKK, got the 2 watches allright, then I bought again 3 watches. Got them aswell, finally I bought 7, that is where he got me ! He sent the parcel with fedex and asked them to return the parcel to him because his employee mixed 2 orders... I never saw my money back ! The guy is famous for selling rolexes, what a thief !
Damn this hobby is filled with such heights of exhilaration matched equally with depths of despair. Im glad you used paypal hopefully they can throw you a lifeline.
Open a claim, I bought some MC parts years ago from Eastern Europe that failed. PayPal took care of it.
This is why I will not buy anything from South America again. My one experience was with a Argentine seller who sold me two Seiko chronographs that were shown on original bracelets but sent on bad fakes. At least the watches were real. gatorcpa
