First one is a horrible piece of shit. Second one is very nice, hallmark on the back of the lug does indicate its solid gold. Clearly needs a new crown, but otherwise looks really nice with an original dial. Since its a hand wind its thinner a plus for some people, a minus for others who prefer an automatic. Should be a caliber 6xx. If its 14K $850-$1000, 18K add a couple hundred. Perhaps a bit more if we can see inside.
As pointed out, stay away from the first one. Its a redial with non-omega hands and who knows what else is wrong. Second one is solid gold with a nice dial. To my taste, these wear a little small on the wrist.
Where did you find that first thing? Love the mismatch 3. The second watch looks pretty good. Early to mid 60's. As noted, it needs a crown and I'll add that it was once polished a hair too much on the top of the lugs judging by the less than crisp facets, but overall decent. There are NOS dials for these floating around, but they are correct fonts so it's hard to distinguish the original from the new service replacements because they're so close.
The second is a nice starter for someone new to Seamasters, and if solid gold, a cool piece for the collection. The first, ugh!
Thanks again. They're both auctioned here. With almost two days left, the Seamaster has already hit close to the $1000, X350 XJR estimated, so......
Respectable Member Pahawi Thanks for letting us know, you come from a very beautiful part of the world, save for the freezing cold winter. I hope you will be the new owner of that beautiful Omega Seamaster De Ville. Thank-you.
"There's one born every minute" http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/there-is-one-born-every-minute.html Now about the Seamaster DeVille.... gatorcpa
The phrase "There's a sucker born every minute" wasn't said by P.T. Barnum, it was said about him when David Hannum was asked why Barnum made so much money even after some of his attractions were fake.
WHAT - you're following the auctions here? - with all that norwegian oil money to back you up, no wonder it's so hard making good deals....... Skål Anders
