    Hi all,
    Another newbie question...
Is there a quick way to set the date for these caliber movements?

Don't wind the watch. Change the hands to the next date that comes up. Stand there from one to 30 days and your done.:D

OK, sorry. ;) No there isn't

So these ones don't have that feature where you can wind it back and fourth around midnight to advance the date?

They do. Manually winding clockwise completely for a 24 hr period. Just hope for something easier.

Well actually I think the 565 may be quick-set (pull all the way out and in to change), not 100% sure as I only own 564s which do.

those calibers have the quick set option just wind the watch until the date changes, stop wind it backwards until you see the date try to change but can't. Then wind forward. Repeat until the correct date is shown.

Damm, I feel dumb. ::facepalm2:: I always tried winding back to past 11 and it did not work, never realized you had to go to 9.::screwloose::

The quick set feature is a must for a mechanical watch. I have the old bumper with the date at 6 o'clock. I don't even bother setting that.

I spent time winding hour by hour, my old fingers are cramped. Don't think I'll do that again, anytime soon:D

I think it is good to own about a dozen or so with dates and just wear whichever is closest to the correct date.

Pffffft that's the sucker's method. What you do is this, find your biggest cordless drill, and pop the bit out, then slide the chuck over your watch crown, set the drill to clockwise, and to the fastest speed setting, then hold the watch VERY tightly while you depress the trigger. Patek Philippe have been recommending this method for decades!

Or wait.. maybe I'm thinking of Invicta.. I always get those two confused :S

In other news, a small website was sued today by the entire watch industry.....

You and alam better stop trying to horn in on my "free services".

Besides, you two are amateurs. I just got Steve / cicondela to send me his 18ct mint IWC caliber 89 under the guise of needing it for a photo shoot. :D Nobody finagles watches better than me.

Oooops, did I just type that out loud?

    Thanks for sharing:thumbsup:
