I joined this forum for my interest in vintage Omega, Longines, etc. However, this Christmas, my grandmother gave my father a vintage Rolex Datejust which belonged to my great grandfather. The watch sat in a bank vault for at least a few decades, so obviously it needs to get serviced. My question is, does this need to be done by a Rolex dealer? To my understanding that costs around $700! Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place in Utah?
You should use a Rolex certified watchmaker. There are independents out there. I used to use Sam Kalter in Philadelphia. He's great, especially with vintage. PM me for contact info if you don't mind shipping it.
