I am a new member here and have a service and or warranty question. Last summer my wife bought me a Speedmater Calibre 3330 from an authorized dealer that was discontinuing the line. I LOVE the watch but last month one of the button pushers fell off. I can still operate the function but clearly, this needs to be repaired. I went to Jared (the only local store that can send it in to be repaired) and they just gave me an estimate of $710. I don't know if this is something that should be under warranty but $710 seems pretty steep for a button!

    Welcome,

Warranty? The answer is, it depends! It depends whether the the button unscrewed, or whether you had an accident, and broke it off. It can happen! Don't ask me how I know. I think you need to take it to an independant shop that has access to parts, for an opinion.

    Canuck,

Thank you for the reply. I was on vacation and do not remember hitting the watch on anything, it appears as if it simply unscrewed. I am calling tomorrow to get the repair details.

Do you have any suggestions on finding a qualified independent shop?

@dealsgapcobra did you ask Jared (assuming they are an Omega AD) why the repair is not covered under the warranty?

I talked to them and the bulk of the cost is the required service which is done anytime they open the case. But the repair is an external button so I am not convinced. They also told me the the warranty is only for internal components.

All of this is from the store and I am not confident they know the details. Next step, try to contact Omega.

Bottom line is that I will have it repaired but this whole thing feels a bit 'off'

Did you receive any warranty documents when you bought the watch?
I would imagine that omega would cover this if it is less than two years old.

If you can take it to your nearest Omega boutique (we have three in the New York City TriState area). Their overhaul service is the same $719.00 price tag with RT shipping. A button like that on a recently purchased first owner watch like a 3330 cal. should still be covered in 2016.

That is what they told me at Omega and Omega will tell you.

To repair/replace anything on the watch beyond the bracelet, (insert-style) bezel and glass the watch must be opened and to open the watch is to remove the ebauche which means EVERYTHING inside that case needs to be oiled, cleaned and, well since you are already in there, serviced before the watch is put back together again! The seals also gets replaced and the watch is water tested. Alone that costs $719 so with the button being missing they may or may not charge extra for that out-of-warranty especially for a recent caliber 3330 watch.

I did the $719 service with a new crystal ($195) and a new bezel ($195) as well as a new bracelet ($pricey) on my ancient 1151 cal. Speedy and I must say the results are amazing. For me it was literally like getting back a new watch.

I had a local repair company totally jack up my pre-moon Speedy: yep, off to the Omega spa for a $710.00 service...
