I have noticed quite a few times when looking at vintage Omegas that the sellers hide the the serial number, at least partially.
Sometimes it could just be that the rotor is hiding part of the number but sometimes it's done quite deliberately.

I am wondering if there is a specific reason for this? And if I am selling a watch should I include the serial number or hide them or only show the first 3 numbers?

    Thanks!

The theory is, exposing the serial number exposes you to risk that someone will fake a sales receipt and claim that you stole their watch.

    It doesn’t matter really.

People do it because they see it done. Next thing it’s a urban myth that people steal serial numbers.

    I have Never hidden them. B2343D59-6F3A-482F-8D70-8A152A8C8879.jpeg 8D6F6FF6-7456-4E84-B044-15299BEE4DC8.jpeg BF0F7FB5-11B5-4D76-98F4-352536878F4A.jpeg

Legend has it that if you share the serial number your watch will suddenly appear to be redialed
