Hello to all the community, and happy new year.

I am looking for a watch from my year of birth. I found some interesting models but being born in 1977 it is difficult to find a watch with its papers or an extract from the archives to be sure. Especially since many sellers refuse to give you more than the first 4 serial numbers ...

I am looking for a speedmaster moonwatch 145-022 76. the model was produced from 1976 to late 1978 obviously. 37.873, XXX-39,946XXX

Do you know how to give me or tell me how to find the serial numbers for the year 77?
Is all the 3992XXXX were build in 1977?
    Thank you.

FYI there are some easy ways to spot a 1977 production 145.022-76.

The 145.022-76 had 2 dial variations. The early one from 76- mid 77, and the later one which went through the mid 80’s. It’s all down to the Speedmaster font on the dial. :) Of course if the watch was serviced it may have a new dial and this will not work. But I’d say it’s pretty uncommon.

all three of those are post mid 1977 production

look at this picture and the relation of the "S" to the "P" in "Speedmaster"

    http://speedmaster101.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/P4290005.jpg

The 2 on the left are 74-mid 77 production and the "S" does not drop to the bottom of the "p" The 2 on the right from mid 77 to mid 80's dials and the S drops to the bottom of the p. Note this test would only excluded early -76 models that have not been serviced, any watch that was serviced from 77 to mid 80's would have the second dial, so a serial number is still preferred..

What are your thoughts? From those pictures its hard to make an evaluation or exactly date the watches. Different lighting, and in at least 1 case heavily filtered in instagram

you can read more here. http://speedmaster101.com/145-022/145-022-71-74-76-78/

Thank you very much for those explanations.
does the presence of the first dial increase the value of the watch?
Graphically I find the first prettier now that you have brought my attention to this detail.
what do you think this ad: https://www.chrono24.fr/omega/speed...gut-gehaeuse-stahl-band-stahl--id12362632.htm
The dial seems to match, the bezel in an exceptional state for its age. But the bracelet was never delivered at that time, right? Is the dial too impeccable to be original? is it a copy in your opinion?

    No price difference.
The -74 and -76 earlier version look better to me as well. It’s the same font as on most of the 321 speedmasters.

Looks like an original dial to me. But the picture has been color adjusted. They are asking top dollar( mint) for a piece without showing the caseback or movement. I’d also want natural light pictures to really see the lume.

What about the bracelet? Models from this era were delivered with? or has the 1171 been replaced?
