I've now found a quartz 2264 and negotiated what I believe is a good price (£850) for a very good condition watch and full set. However, there are a couple of niggling points I'm mulling over... the warranty card has a 2013 date on it (I may be wrong here but thought this model was discontinued in aprox. 2008?) and the serial number 59406638 seems to point to an early model. The guys says it was bought new in 2013 from Fabre in Barcelona (seemingly an Omega AD). Can anybody check the serial number for me pls - I can't find a reliable online source... I'll add some pics shortly but in the mean time what do people think?
The serial on the case matches the one on the warranty card, and presumably on the movement. There are more expensive Models from omega that are beeing faked with less attention to Detail. Don't know if fakers would go such length for a Quarz seamaster but I could be wrong. The chronomaddox movement Chart only goes up to 1998, ending with a serial of 56 Million. Your's should be from around 2005/6. I found one on Chrono24 for sale with a movement number of 59474xxx, with a Dated warranty Card from 3/3/06. It's not uncommon for an AD that they have older Models still in storage somewhere unsold. The warranty Card will get the Date of the sale, so it could very well be possible that the above mentioned watch was sitting at the AD for 7 years and was then indeed purchased new from them. I think the watch looks genuine. There are no obvious tell signs that it might be faked, but you can compare for your Self here https://www.omegawatches.com/fileadmin/Watches/Product_Sheet/en/22645000-en.pdf . Hope this help, Max
I was kind of thinking along the same lines myself - why go to all that trouble for a quartz! The seller seems a genuine guy too so was edging toward the purchase but the 2013 thing threw me a bit. It would be nice to be able to accurately date the watch though.
The store still exists thou. http://www.fabremarjoiers.com/rellotges.asp But remember, you always buy the seller too. If it feels fishy to you, trust your gutt and don't do it.
I've read up on the store and it seems a well established family firm with a couple of shops around Barcelona. The seller has been very helpful and answered all of my questions - he's also sent all of the photo's I've requested including a proof over ownership one with the watch set to a time of my choosing on yesterday's newspaper... I think I'll keep an eye on this post for the rest of the day in case somebody blows it all out of the water with a deal breaking revelation. If not, I'm probably gonna pull the trigger.
I can't tell you production dates, but can tell you that the serial number on the watch is for a 22645000, so based on that and what I see, I think you are fine. Cheers, Al
So the deal is off... after trying to sting me for and 80 Euro delivery the guy would not show me a case off movement pic and continued to claim it was bought brand new in 2013 even after I explained that a 59xxxxxx pointed more towards a 1999 manufacuring date (I eventually found a couple of Omega production run tables which came in handy). Never mind, I'll wait for the next one to come along at point point I might have 2254 money :0
