First, a brief background. Sekonda was a brand established to market Russian watches to UK buyers. This watch has a Russian-made 3017 caliber column wheel chronograph movement, which I read was based on the Swiss Venus 150 movement. These 3017 caliber watches were said to have been manufactured for Soviet pilots between the years 1959 and 1979 and were available under the Strela, Poljot and Sekonda labels. The chronograph has a very smooth and satisfying feel when activated and reset. It's argued that cosmonaut Alexi Leonov wore a Strela 3017 on his space walk. It's also been said that the Russian Air Force preferred Sekondas to Strelas, as there was a perception that anything intended for foreign markets was superior to USSR products. This brings us to this watch. It has a Russian inscription on the back, which when translated to English states: "To Major Tikhomirov from friends and comrades by service. May 1966 year." I've had this watch several years and purchased it as part of my space themed watch interest. Still a fun watch and I think a nice addition to a collection, but I have been downsizing, while also upgrading. I don't know the service history but was told it had been serviced. It appears to have a new crystal and crown. The case is in pretty good condition, with knicks but sharp edges. I added a nice vintage JB Champion mesh bracelet, which fits my 7.25 wrist with lots of room remaining. Price is reduced to $750 USD shipped, assuming shipping is under $50.
