^ do a search. I think i saw a couple being posted for sale during the earlier weeks of the pandemic.

I agree. Best zimbe is the turtle. Zimbe One. And there’s only one (so far).
One on the Chrono24 and they want $2K for it 😲.
When I got grey dawn, I thought I paid a bit too much for it. But I justify paying for the low production number (0002).

Wow. I got my zimbe turtle in “NOS” condition back in 2018 for about USD1.3K.

Was willing to go pre-owned/used as i had a hard time hunting it down

Good thing a friend knows a Bangkok-based seller who sourced one for me.

I got my dawn grey turtle for about USD800. Got it from a European seller early. Before the hype. Bundled with its samurai brother.

If really you like it, USD2K might not seem so bad.

A big downside with Seiko is they aren’t strict with limited edition parts. You won’t find them in abundance on eBay but if you know a repair shop/watchmaker with a seiko parts account you can order a large selection of dials and LE hands. For a while Seiko would sell LE dials without needing the LE watch to show you actually own it. All that to say, is all the Limited Edition watches are limited in complete box sets - Grey Zimbe being 1299 - but there are far more than 1299 out there. Same with the Dawn Grey and any other LE out there. I have had three OEM Grey Zimbe dials, complete handsets and even Zimbe case back, 2 Dawn Grey turtle dials and complete handsets, 1 Dawn Grey Samurai, and varying other LE turtle/monster watch dials/hands. All of my mods had JDM 4R36 movements in them as well. All straight from Seiko and all in OEM Seiko packaging. Don’t mind the leather straps... they were just temporary placeholders until the bracelet came in.

If you know your way around cousinsuk you will find a lot. Watchpartsplaza has a TON of OEM brand new seiko parts. All the way up to new marine master dials/hands. They even have the cases and sometimes the limited edition numbered case backs.

OEM LE-numbered casebacks? Is that not fraudulent or deceptive on Seiko’s part?

Unless as a replacement.

How about the special zimbe boxes?

I would say it's more deceptive than fraudulent since the parts are genuine and released by Seiko to authorized dealers (cousins & watchpartsplaza). Seiko also releases these LE parts in waves to control how many are in the market. Around last November Seiko had closed the door to order any LE part through all channels for an unknown amount of time but will eventually open it back up again as they regularly do this. Here is a screenshot from watchpartsplaza regarding the SRPA19 Zimbe. Last October they had everything available including the case, case back (and I just realized what you mean by fraudulent since Seiko numbered them to 1,299. I'm not sure how to answer that as the number for the item was always blurred). The one thing I have never seen, however, was the boxes. Not every LE Seiko is so readily available too. I don't know how Seiko chooses which models to release in parts but in the case for the Grey Zimbe, there are far more than 1,299 of those out there. Same with both the Dawn Grey's and a lot of the other LE models.

I used to “mod” seikos from the beginning to mid last year and I had a contact inside a Seiko parts manufacturing plant. He was able to hook me up with numerous dials including the Zimbe one. I even got the dial (last picture) of this watch about 6 months before it was officially released.
Seriously dibs on the top one.

Zimbe 13
Individually I would hate almost every detail on that one. Together it’s the only Tuna I really like.

^ reminds me of one description of Cameron Diaz’s face years ago (height of her fame)

Somebody said something like this - individually, her features (eyes, nose, mouth, etc) are plain, ugly even.

But in that combination: gorgeous, alluring and sexy.

I agree. Something about cameron diaz attracts me to her (too bad, cant’s say and vice versa). 😀
