    Hi All,

I was watching this seiko 6309 thinking it could be a nice beater and it sold for way over my max bid at $2025. Am I missing something here? Is there something special about this one? Seem to mostly sell for under 500 USD.

Unless the advert held some 100% verified provenance like "worn by Harrison Ford in the film Indiana Jones and the hyper-inflated watch auction" I'd assume some kind of error: accidental overbid to be withdrawn or similar.

Takes 2 people on eBay to bid something up.

    Money laundering perhaps.

Something very, very fishy on that one. I just can't see anything special, and the bidding activity doesn't feel kosher to me upon glancing at it.

All vintage Seiko’s are going crazy but not that crazy. Guaranteed you’ll be able to bid again in a few days on the same watch.

That price is absolutely cray-cray. I'd assume shill bidding, which is rampant on eBay auctions, but it takes at least one serious bidder to get the number to that point. (Usually there is no point in shill bidding against another shill bidder!) My guess is that someone missed a decimal point in specifying the "top bid," and Sarasota Watch Company shilled it up to that point with a phony third party account. It will probably get relisted in a few days as someone mentioned; that price is about three and a half times the value of a 6309-7040 in considerably better condition than that.

Not sure what to say about that. Not a scubapro ... pretty tired bezel ... not a 2k watch in the current market. I'm not sure what happend!

Seems a very high price for a diver which sits behind the MAS and 6105s for general price and collectability. That price is already halfway to a MAS and a very nice 6105 with original band and possibly box is gettable with change to spare.
