·For sale is a rare & very cool Seiko Sportsmatic SilverWave. This was Seiko's very 1st introduction of a dive watch (even before the 62MAS) and was capable of 30M water resistance. (although I would not recommend diving with a vintage watch today!).
The case measure 37.5mm without the crown and has a press-fit case back. The SilverWave was introduced in 1961, and was the initial Seiko to contain the “tsunami” motif on the case back. This watch dates to 1964. It contains an oversized crown like most super-compressor cases from the era and acts to set the time as well as rotate the inner bezel, which operates smoothly and as it should.
The SilverWave uses a non-hacking, non-hand winding, 17-jewel 6601 automatic movement. You get the movement started via sweeping it back and forth (like many Seiko's) to build up a power reserve. The movement was serviced before I purchased a few years back.
The only noticeable issue that I would point out is some minor marks on the dial as seen in the pictures. These are between 9 & 10. They appear to be small scratches vs. paint flaking. They do not detract from the attractiveness of the piece, but of course I want to point out so you don't miss. Note, I have priced the piece accordingly based on these.
It comes fitted with a "Bambi" style bracelet. the bracelet is in very nice condition overall. Only noteworthy issue are some minor marks on the squares near the buckle, and one square has its cover off by the other end. I never looked for any replacements as they are under your wrist when wearing and not noticeable.
Asking $550 plus shipping. Payment via PayPal or Bank-wire. Shipping via UPS/FedEx/USPS with Tracking and ParcelPro or USPS Insurance coverage. As with my others, selling to fund another recent purchase.
Prefer a sale in the CONUS or Canada, but will consider international sale based on the reputation of the buyer.
