Hi guys, I am looking to purchase a SKX009 but don't know where I can find one other than Amazon or Ebay... Are all these ones on ebay real or is there a lot of fakes out there?

    Thanks!

Afik there are no fakes. There are rumors that the k2 or kd is a factory second but no proof. I got a k2 in 2012 and no issues what so ever, the chapter ring is perfectly aligned, which some people have claimed to be a problem. The shipping is a tad high on your post, the ones I have posted are basically the same price with shipping factored in.

I got one form this guy in 2012

    This is direct from Sieko

Purchased mine from Amazon. Not sure there would be much financial gain in making fakes. Just received my Seiko 5.

Lol! I'm guessing it was the older models that said 21 Jewels at the bottom?

21 jewels is only on the J versions of the 007/009. You pay a premium for the J version. In theory the J is made in Japan and the K in Malaysia. One guy did a review next to each other, and came to the conclusion they are equal, one has a slightly better case finish (J) the other has a better screw in crown (K,) unless you have both and are looking really hard there is not really a difference. I think someone on this forum said it best, "at the end of the day the same robot made the watch, the location of the robot does not matter."

Fair enough, thanks for clearing it up! I see a lot of them have black dials and some with blue dials... I think I'm going to go for the Navy Blue one.

Think the ones on Amazon are gray market but with two year warranty through Amazon.

Not sure where that is from. Sieko sells direct via Amazon. Also the 3 I've purchased via Amazon vendors that are not Sieko all had valid warranty cards and did not have a place to mark where purchased. Which leads me to assume of it did have a problem there would be no question. There are some vendors out there Ive seen accused of selling factory 2nds but I've linked to Sieko direct and a vendor I've used already.

Also I've never heard of any Siekos with a 7sxx movement ever having an issue.

Take a gander at Amazon most Seiko watches available there do not offer a Seiko warranty. That's where it is from

Man, I didn't pay any attention to the warranty at all. I guess that the warranty just isn't much of an issue to me on a $135 watch. Come to think of it, my Speedy from Kring didn't come with a warranty and that worked out quite well. I really do live on the WILD SIDE! ;)

I recently went with an SKX-007. Since I was overwhelmed with the wrist presence of the watch, but not the movement, I decided to upgrade to a hackable, windable version. For the price, there is nothing wrong with the movement. In fact, it is apparently quite a workhorse. Nevertheless, I like to be able to wind my watch. With that said, I just took delivery of this:

I have some cool looking hands, a double domed crystal, a "Coke bezel" and have had the lugs drilled through on my case. I think I'm going to like the outcome quite a bit. I have a watchmaker who is going to morph all this together, with a different stem/crown, and it should be a righteous piece after that (well, more righteous anyway).

If they gonna break, they tend to do it in the first month. The beauty of a third party warranty on a cheap watch is it is almost invariably cheaper to just send you new watch than pay someone to open the sucker up and fix it.

It's the picture all 009's have a blue dial and Pepsi bezel. The 007's are all black.

Hmm okay, thanks again! Gonna pull the trigger and purchase one today. I would get the 007 but I already have a 2254.50 and a few other watches with black dials so I want to switch it up a bit. If I really like the 009 then I might consider getting an 007 as well.... We'll see...
