I'd like one someday, but I cheaped out with the similar PADI and Blue Lagoon Turtles, and got the DOXA Poseidon instead of the MM300. But I like the sharper angles on the MM300 case a lot.

This is the article that first got me interested - https://www.fratellowatches.com/hands-seiko-mm300-sbdx017-review/

Thanks for the reminder about that article, I want to say it tickled my spendy glands before but I can't be certain.

About 6 months ago I was almost into a purchase but let it go on the basis that whilst I've enjoyed many Seiko dive watches both modded and straight, the perception of a relatively small dial diameter ultimately gets to me. Not the issue of the monobloc case at all.

Looking at the shelf I now have fewer dive watches than for a long time and, Omegas apart, the only 300m WR example contains a seiko movement.

What stopped me from getting an MM300 was a screaming deal on a Grand Seiko white dial diver, the SBGX115, with 9F61 HAQ movement for a similar price = one less watch movement to service.

I never understood, if the movement is made alongside other Grand Seiko watches, and it’s built to very high standards, why don’t they just have GS make and brand it?

GS doesn’t do tool watches.

Sure they do!

I'm guessing price. The MM300 is on the low end cost wise of any GS product, including their simple quartz models. And they have this for the GS Diver:

Only about $10.5K with tax.

Or there is the SBGA029 for a little over half the price:

I’m not trying to over hype the MM300, but it is such a fine watch for the money. It’s easily the best value in my admittedly small collection.

I blame @Foo2rama for my MM300 purchase, but I’m also thankful of him for it lol.

@larryganz nice GS

Thanks. I tried to buy an SBGX117 black dial version on eBay recently, from a guy that maybe wore it once, and I was outbid at $2650. I took that money and put it towards the DOXA Poseidon LE, which I'm wearing now, but the GS would have been more luxurious.

I had the SBDX017, was looking for the SBDX001, but settled for the 017. I thought the bracelet was fantastic; but it was really thick. The whole watch itself felt thick and way too chunky for my 7 inch wrist.

That said, if you like thick watches, then this is for you. Also, it looks great with an Isofrane!

Bill, I know this is not what you have as the wtb but I saw this (SBGX117) and it seemed fitting based on the conversation. No affiliation with the seller FYI.
https://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/hard-find-grand-seiko-sbgx117-sale-4735371.html#/topics/4735371

I was ready to make an offer on that one, but decided to "run the numbers" through my budget which says I will not buy a watch on debt (unless 0%). By the time I was done, and knew how much I could offer, it was On Hold Pending Funds.

Which is a good thing, because I really should NOT spend some of my "Pepsi GMT" money on the same GS watch in just a different color.

What does the MM300 go for on the secondary market? 2/3 new?
