But it doesnt hurt at all. In fact, very comfy.

Uncle Seiko just calls it razor wire.

Quick question to the GS fans here:

With the recent unveiling of the updated spring drive movement (9RA5) how long before we start seeing this movement working its way through the rest of the GS line? Or, will this movement be reserved for higher end spring drives and will sit alongside the current movement?

Well my second purchase of lockdown has arrived. I love it. It’s a “Seiko sports 5 x Brian May “ Special Edition SRPE83K1.

What makes this Seiko 5 unique is its dial. It has been faithfully modelled after The Queens legends own Red Special guitar, which was built entirely with hand tools by Brian and his dad in the early 1960’s.The red and black colour scheme is echoed on the dial with a guitar silhouette on the left and wood grain pattern throughout the red.
The dials angled, internal minute track is also red and “Red Special” has been added in script on the dial. A Hardlex crystal covers the front, surrounded by a unidirectional bezel with a detailed 60-minute scale. The case is water-resistant to 100 metres.
The watch has a mineral crystal exhibition caseback Which displays the in-house Calibre 4R36 automatic. It has 24 jewels, beats at 21,600vph (3Hz) with a 41-hour power reserve. It’s has Brian’s signature included on the glass in yellow with a limited edition serial number engraved in the steel.
The Watch comes with is a NATO-style black nylon strap with a stainless steel pin buckle, styled similarly to the strap Brian now uses on his guitar.
The watch comes with a Presentation case which is Designed in accordance with the Red Special’s custom flight case, the presentation box also contains a commemorative coin that is based on the sixpence that Brian uses as a plectrum.
The lune is what you would expect from a Seiko..The picture below shows the lune after about 5 secs exposure outside.

My 1966 Weekdater 6619-8010. I'm struck by how lovely those Seiko dials are, even at almost 55 years old.

My apologies in advance if this thread is not for identification but it is a Seiko and I need a little help.

    The watch -
    Quartz Chronograph 100m/ no alarm
    Movement - 7t92 ( 0hr0 )

Despite having all the required data I am unable to find anything about the watch, web searches turn up 2 pictures and only 1 of them gives a possible date of 1990-96 ( didn't think that old ) and nothing else.
I have found another watch with the same movement/ model ( 7t92 0hr0 ) but it was different to mine and no further information.

I am stuck and a little confused why so any help is appreciated

^ Based on serial number it’s from April of any of 1987, 1997, 2007 or 2017.

What do you wanna find out?

    Thanks for the replies.
@pongster , Where and when it was released, I don't know enough to sure but were some models issued for different markets and is that a reason I am struggling.

@Jerseyhammer , No, I have not taken the case back off. it needs a proper tool doesn't it ?

    Thanks
    Ken

It certainly is best to use a proper tool

Sometimes the tool is holding the watch.

On the dial between 4 & 5 is another code which I thought was the same as the one on the case back, took a loupe to it and the last 4 digits were different. 7t92-0hro on case back, 7t92-0ky8 on the dial.
I tried a few search options and found this -
    http://www.watchsleuth.com/seikochronofinder/search/?MOD=SNDZ95

I am still somewhat confused but at least I know it matches known types.

    Thanks
    Ken

My little lot. I've had & modded a number of SKXs over the years, but don't find them particularly comfortable to wear. Having said that, I have a 007 and a 009, but they remain unworn.

@pongster , that just adds more confusion as I can trace the watch back to 2013.
It has already given me a headache so back in the box of sundries it goes.

^ if caseback is original, cant be 2013 as serial starts with 7. So 2007 or 2017.
