Hey OF, I have decided to let go of my Seiko 62MAS. I love the watch (and I'm almost certain I'm going to regret selling it) but frankly I just don't find myself wearing it very often and I want to make room (and also free up some funds) for other pieces to add to my collection. This is a 6217-8001, the second execution of Seiko's first dive watch; the serial number dates this one to late 1966. It was running very fast when I acquired it, so I had it serviced by an experienced local watchmaker last month and it is now running great (about +4 seconds per day). Case / Bezel: A few scratches and dents from use but in fairly good condition overall and remains unpolished. The dolphin logo and all writing is still clearly visible on the caseback. The original bi-directional bezel has a ton of character; it has faded to a beautiful blue/gray color, almost ghosted. Lume pip at 12 has been replaced with liquid lume. Dial / Hands: Original tritium dial with matching rectangular tritium handset. The glossy gray sunburst finish is striking in person and really changes depending on the light. The dial seems to shift ever so slightly when pulling the crown in and out. Does not move around otherwise and I have not found it to be an issue at all, but I did want to note it for posterity. There is also some evidence of water damage around a few of the markers (common with these I think, as they didn't seal very well). Movement: Seiko 6217 automatic movement, freshly serviced as stated. 18,000 bph, non hacking, non hand winding. Starts up right away with a shake. My asking price for this watch is $2300 USD shipped via USPS priority mail to the CONUS. Payment via PayPal F&F; add 3% if using goods and services option. Returns only if watch is grossly misrepresented. Please note that pictures are part of the description. Included in the sale will be: the black rubber waffle strap pictured, a 19 mm bond NATO strap, a 19 mm light brown leather Bulang & Sons strap, and an extra pair of spring bars. Thanks for looking and please don't hesitate to contact me via PM with any questions!
Very surprised this hasn't sold yet. Better looking patina and much better price than any that have sold on other forums recently.
Agreed and I'm particularly jealous of that caseback. Most of these were worn on nato and the case back engravings are gone.
Bump -- $2500. Keep in mind that this price is for a SERVICED watch with a two year warranty from my watchmaker!
Had a question about the dial, so I took a short video to hopefully give a more accurate representation of how the watch presents in the metal. If you watch closely around 0:18 and 0:36 you may catch the movement I'm talking about. It's an almost imperceptible shift when time setting. Any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
