Hi all

Ive just picked up a really beautiful Seiko World Timer

Just turning to the forum for some help as Im getting a little confused on what my bracelet options are for this

It has the original bracelet but I need something to fit a 7.25-7.5" wrist this, like so many bracelets from the 60s, doesn't fit me

Seeing online that some say its a very tight fit 19mm and others saying its a 18mm, also ready about kind of unique curve end links on this

Anyway hoping someone can point me on the right direction as I prefer the bracelet over a strap

Thanks in advance as always

The original "tank-tread" bracelets actually look like this. But various other bracelets will fit, it just depends on the endlinks. The tank-tread bracelets aren't cheap or easy to find, but all of mine are very long, probably because they aren't easy to re-size.

One of my world-timers came on this bracelet, which is not made by Seiko, but was apparently often fitted to Seikos at the point of sale. You can see it's a good fit.

Incidentally, similar tank tread bracelets were also used for the Olympic monopusher chronographs, but there are subtle differences to the clasps, and obviously the end links are totally different due to the different lug widths.

Hey Dan - as always thank you for the quick reply 😀

I bought this last night, watch head etc is in amazing condition and fully serviced but I didn't check the bracelet and in fairness the seller wasn't sure about things.

I guess I'll be hunting for a bracelet then. Do you have a photo of the clasp on your original bracelet ? Does it have any stamped codes ? Whats the end link type I should make sure to have ?

Sorry for the questions but Im reading a few articles and its hard to decipher and get pictures

Im seeing things like this but Im almost sure that Seiko would have stamped thier brand mark on the clasp:

I love the Monopushers

Here's mine, this came with the original bracelet (the ridged, almost triangular one) but I actually prefer it on a strap

Actually, after some additional research, I believe that your bracelet could be original if it is the 1967 version. Does yours have the original 1964 case-back? Either way, since you are looking for a different bracelet, the tank-tread would be appropriate. I will try to take some photos tonight.

Calling @dapellegrini, because he is the expert. But I have one silver 6217-7000 that I purchased in unworn condition with the box and accessories, and the clasp has no Seiko logo. It does have the ridges. If the clasp doesn't have the ridges, I don't think it's right.

OK, and the serial starts with a "4," for 1964? In that case, I tend to think that the tank-tread should be appropriate for your watch if you can find one for a price that isn't silly. If it doesn't bother you too much, you could even consider getting a repro bracelet in the short run. I think they exist.

As I noted, many other 19mm Seiko bracelets would probably be fine. I'm pretty sure I used a Seiko coffin-link bracelet on a 6217-7000 and it looked great. I'll see if I can find a photo.

At least with my watch, I can confirm that 19mm is just a smidge too wide. I have a Seiko BoR bracelet (not original to the watch) that measures 19mm, but it just won't fit. After a beastly struggle I managed to get one end link in place, but I never could make the second one squeeze in. I could probably file a tiny bit off the endlinks and force it between the lugs, but so far have resisted. It's dark here now, but if you remind me tomorrow, I can take some daylight photos to show the closeness of the fit. (Also, with my 15cm wrists, I would be interested in the existing bracelet that's too short, if you're open to selling it.)

FWIW, aftermarket straps for the Aqua Terra seem to fit pretty darn well. The rubber compresses enough to fit between the lugs, and the curvature and spring bar position match the Seiko almost perfectly,

Update: Waiting for good lighting is probably overkill, so I snapped this photo just now. As you can see, it wouldn't take much filing to get a fit. Maybe I'll be inspired to finally get out the files tomorrow.

Update 2: Thanks @workandturn for the inspiration. It may not be completely true to the original issue, but I've always thought of worldtimers as a bit more elegant than standard sports watches and, thus, a good match for beads of rice:
