I plead ignorance. I bought this ladies watch for my wife and know nothing about it. Any info about the model, material, age etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. 1217161818.jpg 1217161816.jpg 1217161815b.jpg

The dial has been refinished, probably from the thirties.

I collect antique bicycles and am always culling out repaints and restorations as well. Not asking for a complete information download, but curious as to how it is so clear on this watch. It was $40 and worked great and seemed more interesting that some China made garbage. :) great forum!

I had an answer here but having re-read your post I realized it didn't follow and made no sense.

Repaints and all that are strictly important for collectors.

That's a nice looking antique watch.

What about the dial indicates that it's been restored? Here is a close up of the closure. It says it's 10K RGP...would that also apply to the watch case too. I can't find any marks on the watch itself. S20161218_0004.jpg S20161218_0006.jpg

The Omega logo and the Omega word give it away.

Here's a better photo of both and upon further inspection, I noticed the Omega logo and Omega word appear to have originally been slightly raised and possibly slightly shiney. Both logo and word appear to be slightly chipped up and missing slivers of the original raised black lettering (re: cross bar in the A, rounded top of Omega logo, left angled leg of the M, top bar of E)...in fact it looks as if the missing chips and chunks are actually still inside the case as debris. Am I seeing this correctly? Are you implying that the logo and words might have looked even worse at some point and someone repaired it to the state that it's in now? Thanks for patience with the newbie questions. :) girlwatch.jpg

Original Omega should look more like this

IT's certainly a refinished dial. The 10kt RGP means rolled gold plate, a relatively thick layer of gold over top base metal like brass, or in your case steel.
