Seeking advise on Omega Seamaster automatic from 1962 in gold

Hello. I am considering purchasing this watch and would respectfully ask that advise as to the authenticity. The dealer wrote the following "

Highly attractive Omega Seamaster automatic from 1962 in gold

Notice that this has a British made case, manufactured for Omega by Dennison. Based in Birmingham, this famous concern was responsible for the finest and most desirable cases used by Rolex, Omega and Longines at this point.

Full British hallmarks, 9 karat gold, Birmingham, 1962.

Movement is an incredibly clean, totally original, calibre 552. Built in house by Omega in Bienne and launched in 1958, the 552 is considered not only to be Omega’s best, but arguably one of the finest self winding movements of all time, by any maker.

We find very few Seamasters in solid gold, and this one of the best we’ve seen for several years.
    Price: $2,373"

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Genuine but polished to death and a refinished dial.

    Silly asking price.

    PASS!

I'm under the impression that 9kt gold means gold capped, which is not a lot of gold. Certainly would not be worth 2k.
And I'm pretty sure that is a redial. Font looks awfully bolded, and the automatic looks bad.

    No, 9K is solid gold.

I wouldn't pay a tenth of that for that watch.

I would also question the logic of having what looks like lumed hands without any lume plots. A quick trawl through Google images of cal 552 Seamasters does not seem to throw up any with that style of minute markers either (if it's a rare variant, others may chip in).

It would be interesting to know if the words "refurbished", "refinished", "restored" or similar appear anywhere in the advert.

So nice of them to not show the Swiss Made which I'm fairly sure would show a dial hand mismatch.

That's a very wishful thinking price esp with a low grade gold over polished case.

Quite a few sellers don't state that it's a redial on eBay. They just don't use the word "original".

Bold text: Subjective, hard to prove wrong.
Bold and underlined: Highly dubious claim.
    Underlined: Just plain wrong.

Bullshit in sales adverts is an instant turn-off. If the merchandise is good, it won't need it.

The dealer actually wrote me an email with the verbiage quoted. No"refurbished", "refinished", "restored" included.
Thanks everyone for the advise, I'll keep looking for the right one.
    Cheers.

I can't recall right away if you need 200 posts to start a Want to Buy thread but if you might try posting one here on that part of the forums.

I presume this is in the UK given the Dennison case and the odd dollar pricing which equates to about £1850. Dealer prices are always high but in this case they are really taking the mick. To give you an idea, this one's mine, a far better example in 18K with textured dial, 18K bracelet and box and papers. I'm still mulling over whether to sell it but if I did, I'd ask the same price as that worn-out old thing you posted. So you might want to take your time and get a handle on values before diving in.
