Hello All,

Does someone know what is the correct seconds hand for the Accutron 214 Astronaut?
Mine has has the "tuning fork" logo, which looks nice but is probably incorrect. Looking at other vintage Astronauts on the net I see some that are painted white, others are silver, some have lume, some don't have lume. 😵‍💫

The minute and hour hands are "spears", which appear correct for this model Astronaut.

Incorrect. Those tuning fork sweep second hands did not originally come on those Astronauts. Most people that have them were either intrigued in the cool look or a repair agent installed one as a replacement not worried about the original look. Certain common black dial variants did have a luminous sweep second hand but the more variant-specific ones did not.

Standard Black Dial with less seen Luminous Sweep Second hand.

The luminous second hand look really cool. Do you have a model name for the hand? I can't find it on Accutron replacement hand table I have.

I have sold off most of my reference material from my Accutron collecting days(I no longer buy or sell Accutrons) "Long story"::facepalm1::. So sadly any info on that part number I no longer have or didn't have to begin with.

I imagine a downside of the lumed second hand is that it could be mistaken for the minute hand at a glance. The tuning fork watch hands move so smoothly, somehow you don't notice they are moving. I had this issue with a hummer I owned.

That's an interesting point. Many hands on this watch!

I have always thought the issue would be especially bad with pencil hands, like on this ebay watch:

The luminous sweep hand is fairly easy to pick out. It's nice to have a few reference pics I took years ago with forum chat.
