I bought this watch about 20 years ago from a local guy because the price was cheap and I thought the dial pattern was attractive. I’d mostly forgotten about this watch until I found it the other day and began to study it. It appears to be a very dirty 28.10 movement housed in a 32mm Wadsworth case. Serial number coupled with dial design places it about 1946. By its looks, if it had been cased in an omega case, it might have been a ref 2421. Looking at photos of other 2421’s, I’m not able to find a second hand that matches mine so I wonder if it is a Wadsworth set of hands ( or just second hand ) or if someone has replaced it at some point. It seems to be the right length and the tail end goes with the sword hands of the hour and minute. But again, can’t find another to match. Secondly, the font spacing on the dial seems inconsistent to me, yet I’ve found other dials on a google search that are similar. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Tom
I think it looks a fairly original and unmolested American market watch. Watches were imported and cased in America to avoid heavy import duties on luxury items like gold watches coming into the States. So I think thats the original case for that watch as well. Nice piece!
my 52 Wadsworth cased bumper and my 55 Denison cased full rotor automatics say hi! the Denison was cased in England for the same import tax dodging reasons.
