BTW, to get back on subject, you should be able to find someone to fix the moonphase indicator and do an overhaul for less than $400. Not sure I would mess around with the dial at this point. Your mom probably went to a jewelry store who sub-contracts the work to an independent watchmaker, then marks it up at a profit. The fact that after quoting a high price on the service, they tried to buy the watch should tell you something.
