    Hi this is my late dad's old omega seamaster would any one no the year I believe it's late 60s early 70s

    You're correct in the time period, the movement number on the inside could make it more precise but if you take the back off you risk damaging it, not a bad piece to get from your dad and the movements in these are very well made, I would suggest finding an independent watchmaker to service it and wearing it.

    It's a reference 166.067 in stainless steel with a caliber 565. It was introduced in 1969 and ran to the early 1970s.

    Often called out by watch experts as "being seriously over polished" or "missing the bezel" due to the curve shape of the lugs and the flat surface of the case top.

    To date your watch more accurately you need to have the caseback removed and use the serial number.

    You could probably get that when you put it in for servicing ;).
