One I can't afford to eat and the other, I'm not sure if I dare. First is an 18k Seamaster with waffle dial that is nice looking but I think way overpriced but what the hell do I know. Aside from the price, is there anything that jumps out as incorrect? The second is 1/4 the price and the dial looks okay. It's in Venezuela but the seller appears to have good feedback. The major issue for me, is the movement looks as if it spent time in a rain forest. Does it just need a good service? http://www.ebay.com/itm/321901994242?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Interested to hear thoughts on the two.
Skip the second one as the hands are replaced, dial is in mediocre condition, movement needs help and case is corroding. I think if you can get the first one for a couple hundred of dollars less, it would be a decent buy. The Swiss Made is probably hiding under the crystal. Everyone should have a waffle!
+1 for @kyle L on this. To add: the case of the 1st does seem rather polished IMO, might also be the quality of the pics. And: I would insist (!) on having pics of the inside too; especially with these grand old ladies one never knows what is under the hood (did I really type that ?) Anyway, on price: I am actually surprised that you guys consider this price too high. I mean, agreed that everything on the bay is overpriced, but for this particular watch...(depending on polish)? I might have paid an extra premium then (with all due pleasure) for my chronometre, that says hello!
Thanks. I will gladly let you know if I can't come to an agreement with the seller, that's acceptable to me.
I spoke to the seller this afternoon. He's sending me photos of the movement and the dial showing Swiss made, if it's there.
