Learned friends, a total newbie writes. Would love to know more about the De Ville nomenclature in my on going search for the perfect time piece. The Seamaster 30 and 600 stand out, at least for me, as clean classics. I know there has been previous debate about the merits of one over the other. But to return to my total lack of knowledge, can you enlighten this first time caller on the De Ville significance and whether I should pay much attention to this if I am interested in finding a vintage variety Seamaster? With thanks.

You ask a great question. I've wondered about the De Ville name associated with Omega. There's a De Ville dress watch in a stainless steel case and featuring a 620 movement kept around here. It dates to 1961. It's not associated with the Seamaster line.

For me, the De Ville signifies the start of this vintage hobby, Here's my first acquisition which I still enjoy for its low profile and simplicity.
