    Hi Forum members

I am about to send my beloved Seamaster 2254.50 to STS for it's first ever service (bought it new and yes a service is well overdue).

I have had a quote from Simon at STS but would like to provide some instruction so that the polishing is kept to a minimum but delivers a great end product.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions on how best to communicate this, or should I just hand over the watch and leave it for them to assess to what extent it is polished?

    Many thanks IMG_0002.JPG

STS are great. If you ask for a full movement service, new seals, case clean but no polishing, that's exactly what they'll do.

I would leave it to Simon, they will return it looking factory fresh if you do. There is no discount for declining the refinish as part of a full service so you are paying for it and may as well take advantage of it. I have had many watches refinished by them and they work miracles. They can if necessary laser weld to add material so they don't just polish and hope for the best, the use specialist machinery to re-instate the original finish. If really all you want is a movement service then maybe consider Genesis, TWB or WG since it will save you about £100-£150.

If no polishing then any qualified watchmakers can service that movement for a reasonable price.
