I just got the last part for this watch and I thought some of you may appreciate seeing the finished piece - particularly as one of the OF family helped by providing a replacement dial ...

This came to me around the beginning of December last year. Good case; all original movement but with some glaring problems:

In the past, the dial had been "aggressively" cleaned; there were numerous marks on the movement and signs of water ingress. The movement didn't clean up as well as I'd hoped but it's mechanically sound and running as it should.

So, here she is now ...

As you can see, even found her a vintage Omega strap to sit on.

I do love bringing these back to life.

Well done for getting it all back together as a running usable watch. It looks like it had suffered a hard life so hope you get some use out of it now.

    Cheers, Chris

That is some transformation! Makes me want to give a restoration a try on some of the junk I see in the remote areas of some of the local countries.

Guys, I'm having a discussion (not an argument, I promise) about watches and particularly restorations. I know what this one owes, financially, and how much time has gone into it ....

... we need a "referree" , though: what do you think is the fair market value of this watch? Bear in mind all the parts are "correct" but obviously not original to the watch. We're discussing whether or not I'd have been better buying a similar good watch or restoring this one.

Just throw out a number and I'll take the average as the value of the watch. If you want to add reasons, feel free.

Just making sure I have the right parameters. Gold-capped? 35mm?

Yes ... I could check the diameter but about that.
