Hello all I have been left my fathers omega watch and would appreciate any information from your learned selves. On removing the back the numbers 135.003 and 62-SC are on the inside back case which I think is stainless steel.On the watch innards there is the number19733727 seventeen jewels.Will send a photo if needed. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm lot's of yummy parts here. Appears that your father had some substitutions over the years......unless it is a "prototype". I'm no expert but looks like a second hand from a Seamaster 300M (lollypop) and dial from a later Ranchero. Both very collectible but don't belong on this case..................I could be wrong....but my $.02 Still a cool looking watch
This one looks like a frankenwatch, but if all parts turn out to be genuine Omega, it may be parted out for a small fortune. I know that the lollipop seconds is not correct for the Ranchero, but brings a large premium on a late 1950's Seamaster 300 or Speedmaster. You would need an expert to look at that hand for originality. There were Rancheros made with center seconds. If it is real, then it may also be sold to a collector for quite a bit. No clue on the hands, but I have seen similar hands on other Omegas. Not sure if they have been relumed, or are even original to either the Ref. 135.003 or 2996. Whether the movement and dial always went together would depend on the caliber of the movement. I can't see if it is a cal. 285 or 286. If a 285, then it is possible. If a 286, then the movement likely went with the Ref. 135.003 case, and it started out life as a Seamaster 30 model: http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14422 It might be possible to recreate a Ranchero out of this watch by replacing the case with a Ref. 2996 case, as non Ranchero versions were made using the same case. I've seen those go rather inexpensively on eBay. You would also need to replace the hand set with the correct ones as illustrated by Omega above. These come up on eBay as well.
