I think the exclusivity helps it, but I do think it would sell better today.

I touched on it a couple pages ago in more detail so people are welcome to go back but to resummarise, the 36 released in a time period where giant watches were on trend, e.g. Panerais and POs. The Railmaster XXL, which is enormous to the point of absurdity, I think 49 mm, seems to have been quite a bit more popular than the 36. Classic sized watches have come back into popularity in modern times and particular simple dialled field watches seem quite trendy. I have no doubt the Railmaster of the 2000's would have sold much better today, and probably better than the funky dialled third generation series discontinued last year. Would it have been enough to not be discontinued? Dunno.

Regards small watches, I've no regrets about my Railmaster which gets worn most of the time and even took advantage of Grand Seiko's Black Friday promotion to get hold of one of theirs with a 36.5mm case.

They just don't look small when worn. Neither do they look small when worn by my lad who is a fair bit bigger than me.

Far as I'm concerned, low profile in any size watch looks classy .. er and smaller diameter is cool because it makes it look as though you don't care.

However, generally speaking, and same as most of us here I imagine, if you're interested in watches and fancy a chat, doesn't matter what you're wearing. 🙂

Recently I was a bit bored of the look of the Railmaster especially due to seeing them like cattle in a farmer fair waiting for a Prize on CH24,
and I fell upon this ad which cheered me up a bit !😄

I don't think that's crazy at all. It's about what I'd pay for one today, which is why I will never own one. 😀 What's actually crazy is paying $5k (much less $8k or $10k) for a no-date version of the 2504.50 with a different dial.
I have actually chatted to the seller in Norway who was very nice and he sold it for around 6k€ Needless to say anything above that will not sell imo

That's a 39mm😒
Ha! Well done. Came as a notification to me and lazily didn't read it properly. And am pleased it's not the 36.2mm, tbh. 😁

😃No problem! Don't worry I am pretty sure that the 36 will now settle around 5-5,5 K€ (or 6kusd) Has anyone here had his rm serviced recently? if not how do they perform?🤔
