My 3 Omegas are mechanical and I do own other mechanical watches. I also have a few genuine quartz watches and I like them too. The Seamaster quartz watches are half the price of the mechanical ones. Are these quartz Seamasters genuine Omegas or fakes ? I ask because I am tempted to buy one.

Eh? Give us a clue, are you talking about ebay listings? If so, post an example. Yes there are genuine Omega quartz watches if that is what you are asking.

Based on what I'm seeing, I think you should go for it.

    Seriously?

I would not touch a watch with a case that has been so heavily polished. I am pretty sure not even laser welding will bring it back to acceptable levels.

I think it's just the lighting making it appear so polished.

Perhaps the reason I am not seeing a picture is because there is no picture? There is a reason quartz watches don’t bring the prices that good mechanicals do. You are among the minority that are interested in them. If a microscopic part fails in a quartz watch, chances are you have to replace most or all,of the movement.

Hell, the lack of photos is the only thing keeping it alive.

A quartz movement for the Golden Eye Seamaster, like any quartz movement is usually more durable than a mechanical one and if in a worst case scenario the movement has to be replaced then a brand new Quartz movement for this Seamaster 2541.80 Omega would cost around 450 or 500 USD.
This is probably less than a full service on a mechanical Seamaster movement from Omega, so I would say, if its all genuine and in Good order and you like it, then Buy it.
