Looking to buy this and the shop selling says it's a genuine Omega Seamaster Quartz 1342 gold plated but from some I have seen on internet search images the Omega logo and the twin bars at the 12 don't seem to fit with the era 1970's/1980's?

Case back is plain with 1342 stamped on it and inside the case has Omega stamped on it. He said some came with a plain back for engraving etc?

Any help would be very much appreciated as the jeweller is keeping the item over for me.

Do you have pictures of the inside and outside of the caseback as well as the movement?

Unfortunately not, I was just passing the shop when I saw it in the window and only had 5 minutes free time to check it out. They let me snap a front pic and opened the case for me and showed me setting the time with it (some messing about that!).
The back of the case was plain with 1342 stamped on it and inside the case had omega stamped on it. The movement looked very old quartz once again with omega on it and 1342. The shop owner is a watchmaker/repair/service old dude and says the watch is genuine etc. etc. etc.

    Dial is a common variant.

Pretty sure it’s real. Max price $250 less if you hunt on eBay you can find these about $200 all day long. Being marked 1342 on the caseback is a bit odd.

    eBay search Omega 1342

Giving me 6 month warranty, new battery, clean up and a cert by himself that it's the real deal all for 250 so not a bad deal.

    Your money

    These are unloved by collectors.

If you buy it make sure the date change works. I believe date set is a button in the crown. Research it.

Money pit. Too old. Suggest you avoid it. If it lasts for the six months of the warranty and then causes trouble, you will regret having bought it.

that good eh lol. The date works as I got him to show that working. He says he will look after it if anything goes wrong and he's local. I really want an automatic but don't mind adding one quartz of that era. I kinda like it for some strange reason maybe I'm just getting to that age.

I found non asking sold prices for non solid gold ones. Mixed SS and plated. I saw some older solid gold ones higher and a lot of people asking over 300 but non sold. Either way it’s not a bad deal for a 6 month warranty at 250.
