I need some advice from some of you omega experts.

I'm in the market for a seamaster, and I was thinking of a plain seamaster but I'm finding a lot of mint Planet Oceans for under $3000 on ebay.

I was wondering why there are so many mint planet oceans on ebay to see if they are legitimate, because if they are mint, then I'd rather have planet ocean than a regular seamaster. Here are some examples:

Those are Planet Ocean 2500s, the Planet Ocean 8500 is the new one and is a more expensive model, there's nothing wrong with the 2500, but after the new model came out there was a lot of old stock in inventories of the 2500 and a lot of owners around considering upgrading.

All three of those are real btw, though the middle one is a bit worn. The top one looks good.

dsio thanks for your response. I thought that those coaxial ones are new but didnt' realize that there was a newer version. So as the new ones are going for $4000+ in grey market mint 2500s for under $3000 is not a bad deal?

The 2500 is still a great watch, and many 2500 owners love them. Given Seamaster Pros like the sword hand 2254.50 can exceed 2k in nice shape I don't think its unreasonable.

You can probably find a BNIB/LNIB PO 2500 for just a little over $2k, but you need to have the patience. It all depends on how much you research.

a little over $2k would be a huge stretch, you can't even get a LNIB Seamaster Pro for that kind of money

They are definitely LNIB & anybody would agree to that.

No, they're not I'm afraid, the two sellers rated them at 94% and 95% respectively. The TZ grading system goes:

    100% - LNIB
    100% - 98% Mint
    93-97% Near Mint

The first one has softened edges on the lugs where its been polished to remove scratches from the case.
