Seamaster NY boutique edition °206/399 STOLEN

Dear all,

I live in the Bruges area in Belgium. Unfortunately we had some unwanted visitors this Christmas who effectively cleared our house of anything valuable (even t shirts, coats, all hand bags etc)... Aside from my wife's jewellery and family heirlooms, my seamaster NYC boutique edition (nr 206/399 - my birthday is 20th of june) was stolen. We bought it together on our honeymoon in NYC and next to its monetary value it holds great sentimental value.
And it was just a stunning watch, I loved it. My wife's constellation gifted to her for her 18th birthday was also stolen, with inscription "Justine 18" engraved on the back.

I highly doubt the police will find anything, but since it is a very specific and numbered timepiece and also rare in europe since its NY boutique edition only and one of 399, I thought I'd ask here what steps I can take myself - for example if it would be offered to a watch dealer or jeweller. Only one is currently for sale on chrono24.
Mine was on a beige nubuck strap by Moleskin. I still have the original black alligator strap.

I have to add: the thieves left the box and papers on the kitchen table, but that only makes me think they are going to wear it themselves instead of trying to sell it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Creating this will at least make it known it is stolen to anyone googling it.

FYI: they did steal the box and papers of my rolex submariner, but not the watch since I was wearing it that night. Doesn't really make sense to me. Anything I should do with that?

Sorry to hear this mate, I’ve been in this situation a couple of years ago and it feels absolutely horrible, takes some time to get better and not get up whenever you hear something suspicious outside. I hope the watch turns up but at the very least this should make it much harder for thieves to dispose of.

Very sorry to hear it.

I suggest posting a new thread on the Rolex Forum with the serial number and model numbers of both your Rolex and Omega. The Rolex forum has a lot of traffic and as people reply google will put your seria number at the top of search results. You should title it “stolen Rolex serial XYZ and Omega XYZ” https://www.rolexforums.com/

I
also suggest that you register both watches on
The Watch Register as it has a database that is consulted by bona fide dealers. Www.Thewatchregister.com

Wwe were broken into a few years back - and since then I bought a very heavy safe, bolted to the floor, and all types of alarms in our house….. I’m very sorry you are going through this.

So sorry to hear about the robbery. I’ll add the Seamaster to the Alpha Hands stolen watch registry in the hope that it can assist.

Hello from Bruxelles, BelgianOmega, I’m very sorry for this bad experience. Probably they will sell all this far away but if they try to sell it in our country they might try in the biggest second-hand watch shop in Bruxelles: Artisant du temps. Maybe you should send them the information you shared in this forum, their web site is https://www.artisandutemps.com/ based on my (very good) experience when reselling to them over several years they ask for the box, papers and they make a copy of the ID card of the seller.

They personally know you if they had time to ransack your jewelry and knew what to take, but quite frankly Rolex boxes sell for a decent amount of money in the used market.

Sad to say that stolen watches can get their serial numbers blacked out and be forever black listed from ever getting serviced legitimately, if you do find it the best thing that happened to you is that your box was left behind because if your movement and serial number was scratched out, omega can etch it back into it since you have your paperwork.
