Seamaster gmt bezel insert removal

Hey OF

I've seen some bezel insert mod for 2234.50 seamaster gmt on the internet and i wanted to try it for myself but i can't seem to take the bezel insert out of the bezel. I've heard it's usually friction fitted but it's stuck.. I'm afraid to apply alot of pressure on it because the bezel might bend.

Can you guys give me any advice to solve this problem?
Do i need to use chemicals to remove the bezel insert?

Thanks

The insert should just push out. Although on some cheap watches I have found some inserts to be glued in. In that case I used a very thin (and sharp) craft knife to gently prise the insert up from the bezel. If you’re unsure about it, have a local watchsmith change it for you. Here’s mine with an all back GMT insert.

The safest way to pop the insert out (apart from having a watchmaker do it for you) is with a crystal press - that way you apply uniform pressure to the insert only from the inside.

Not require glue removal, just push from rear with abit of pressure, see my diy great white with day nigjt bezel.

Did you have to glue that bezel in? I’ve just picked one up from eBay and I need to know if it’s a perfect fit or if I need to find some glue?

Bezel attached similarly to 5 digit Rolex GMT's?... just curious as I will try to do it on the current gen 300m.

They are not glued in from the factory - they are friction fitted. As noted, the best way to remove it is using a press:

Same for installation:

Hi Al,

I was referring to @gpssti4’s post, in which he showed off the aftermarket bezel. I understand genuine ones are pressed in, but I’ve just bought an aftermarket bezel (like gpssti4’s) and had heard that they glue in.

However, so do and some don’t, it seems. I was trying to find out if his (the aftermarket bezel) glues in or presses in!

I was responding to the OP, not you...

I don't work with aftermarket (fake) parts, so they may glue in..

I’m not usually a fan of aftermarket parts either - but the gmt bezel is a bit shouty.
