Taken while visiting Venice in July. Being a Speedy fan, I had to take a picture. It looks just like the one on my Speedy's caseback!

Why a Venice Edition? Because an Omega watch designer visited Venice in the 1950s in search of a graphic element to represent the (then) new Seamaster line of watches. Many of the Gondoleri in Venice have a brass Hippocampus on their watercraft. The Hippocampus subsequently became associated with Omega's Professional-class watches. Why? Because of Venice's historic role in the exploration of the World via its oceans.

And there you have it (at least, as recorded in Omega's mythology on the topic 馃榾 )

p.s. : One more bit of context on this topic. Omega selected the Hippocampus as a representative symbol in late 1957, so releasing a Venice Edition in 2017 is yet another 60th Anniversary event for the year.

I just acquired the Stainless Steel case version through Crown & Caliber without sales tax or, of course, any import duties. Full Venice AD paperwork and Omega Warranty verified by my St. Louis Boutique.

Nice! How do you like it? The reason I'm asking is because it's probably the very watch that I sold to Crown & Caliber a few months ago. We picked it up while vacationing in Venince last August. Beautiful piece, but decided it wasn't quite for me shortly after returning to the USA. 馃榾

I did not. I'm not really a fan of gold watches; only have stainless steel in my collection. I did end up buying the Rio NATO strap, though. It's a great fit with my 1st generation white-dialed Aqua Terra.

We must have hung out at the Venice boutique for a couple of hours looking at various watches and stuff. The staff were so nice and accommodating. It made for a great afternoon and a highlight of our trip to Venice.

I just wish they had a tradition around watches for the Italian market and had a logo based on Venice's traditional symbol....
Ooh! Ooh! What a GREAT idea! Why hasn't their marketing department thought about this?
