Have been selling off some vintage pieces over the last few months with the intention to buy at least one versatile go everywhere, do anything watch.
Was originally thinking of a 36mm Explorer I but have also been toying getting into scuba diving and when I read the Explorer only had 100 metre WR I was concerned it wouldn't hold up to diving or surfing. I have been corrected and understand now that 100m is enough for recreational diving... However, in the period of time I thought the Explorer wasn't going to work I came across the modern Diver 36.25 which I think would be a pretty tough watch and also work well for my ~6.25" wrist.

Was wondering if anyone had wrist shots with it or some ownership experience with this watch, how they felt it compared to the competition (there isn't much in mid size 36-38). How is the lume? I also looked at the Sinn 556 but the reviews I watched seemed to show a pretty poor lume, if I am only going to have one modern watch, I want great lume! Also looked at the Seamaster Professional 2252.50.00 but at a very similar price (pre-owned) I'm thinking it may be worthwhile to go for the newer model.

This probably isn't a do anything, but its got 220mts of water resistance: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/rado-hyperchrome-tradition-captain-cook-mk-ii-hands-on and its much smaller.

If not its probably good to wait for Basel as there are some rumours going around that Tudor may drop all black bays to 38. If you have to have something immediately there's also the Bathyscape 38

I don't really care for the looks of the Rado. Not sure if I would be into the Black Bay even at 38mm, a Pelagos at 38mm however would be very interesting. I still think the 36 Explorer, Sinn 556 or 36mm Seamaster are the ones I am leading towards most heavily.
I like the Blancpain but their price new is a little steep ~triple the price of a preowned 36mm Diver 300M, haven't seen any pre-owned examples to see where they would sit used.

Surprised nobody here owns or has any experience with the 36mm Diver 300M.

I have a midsize SMPc and I love the watch. At first, I thought it was a little bit small, but since I have 6.25" wrists, I really started to love it after wearing for a while. It's not heavy and doesn't protrude off my wrist like larger offerings, and certainly doesn't look like a clock on a bracelet.

Now, if I had large wrists, would I want the full-size? Probably 😀

Looks like a perfect fit for your wrist. It's a great looking piece - the proportions are executed really well in both sizes. I have 6 inch wrists, but I wear the 41mm. I don't think it looks oversized.

There's always the trilogy seamaster 300. It's smaller and made for diving.

acb5456, the midsize looks great on your wrist! I'm hankering for one myself.

My very first Seamaster was a quartz Seamaster mid size Bond, which wore for like 10 years before trying the full size. I also had the blue Bond coaxial version (2222.80.00), the black dial caliber 1120 (2252.80.00) and finally the black SMPc shown above. It is a great watch indeed 👍

For a female, it will be amazing, for men's, the 41mm or 42mm is the way to go
