    Hello,

    a colleague of mine suggested I post a thread on this forum, due to the right informations he got about an vintage military wristwatch. I hope I'll get the same satisfaction as him.

    I'm not looking for an identification of a watch I own, but I'd like to know if the following would be an possible combination that Omega was selling in 70's:
    dial = Seamaster Automatic
    case = 176.002
    movement = 1040

    I found on the net one person quite skeptical about this combination: http://www.calibre1040.com/cal-1040-collectors-guide-case-references/002-2/
    I also found some pictures giving reasons to think that it would be possible (error at the factory ?): https://omegaforums.net/attachments/most-plausible_1-jpg.219185/
    And on 'ofrei' website, a seamaster dial is said fit with case 176.002: http://www.ofrei.com/page1106.html
    but "fit" may not mean it is an official Omega combination.

    If an expert may give some information and its feelings on this topic, it would be very appreciated !

    Thanks in advance for all your expertise !
    BR
    Pierre

    Thank you for your very fast reply !
    Do you know if 176.0002 really exists or if there is a mistake on omegawatches.com and we should read 176.002 ?
    if 176.0002 exists, do you know the differences between 176.002 and 176.0002 ?

    Thanks again !

    They are the same reference number. The Omega Vintage Database requires an extra zero added directly after the decimal point.

    Thank you for this good information. I did not know that. If I see a caseback written 176.0002, I now know it is a fake.
    Thank again !

    I have one (seamaster dial, 176.002 case). Sent it to Omega who confirmed that the dial was origional and the watch was sold as a seamaster.

    Would you mind sharing a picture? I acquired one recently and I’m trying to validate if it is legitimate. Thanks.
