Hey all,

I've recently become enamored of the black-dial Seamaster Devilles, and I was hoping to get the wisdom of the crowd on one possibility.

Pictures are below. Ask is $850. I'd love to get your thoughts on legitimacy and value. Thanks in advance!

The one in question is a redial. Along with all black dial devilles with a crosshair. From what i understand omega did not produce a cross hair black dial deville, but one was custom made for mad men(not by omega). Following that show there was a surge in popularity and many started painting them to match. I have seen these redials go for around 7-800. The original black dial devilles can fech around the same if not more from dealers.
My tip is to not get a redial. Get a white or silver dialed one. They are easy to source and can be found for a lot less if you search around. And just as beautiful imo. If you are searching for a black dial prepare to wait and to pay twice of that a cream or silver dial.

The hands are lumed. The hour markers are onyx inlaid. This means they are a mismatch.

As advised above, orginal black dial SMs (and Constellations) are scarce, sought-after and expensive. Redials are often hard even for experienced collectors to spot. Not safe waters for beginners to swim in.

The markers are unusual, if you look closely there appears to be a strip of horizontal lume across each one.
It undoubtedly a redial but very well executed nonetheless.

I thought at first the lume was just blobbed on over the markers, but on close inspection it does look as if they might actually be cut for it. Unusual indeed! Hands not right for it, whatever....😗

To be honest, I personally find the redial attractive. If you're dead set on a black crosshair dial and you're looking for cosmetics and fashion rather than 100% authentic and "correct" then it's worth what you're willing to pay.

The dial didn't come out of Omega looking like this, if you're okay with this fact and you're willing to spend 850$on it then pull the trigger. Just know it doesn't hold that value in this forum, being a redial.

"Fine Watch Club" on Chrono24 and Ebay do redials that sell for good money, so there's a market for it were you to ever resell if you bought it.

The dial is flaking badly, I wouldn’t recommend spending good money on this watch.

Forgot to check replies on this for a bit and wanted to say thanks for the advice! I'll be looking elsewhere.
