I am looking at this Seamaster de Ville and can't help but question it's originality based on the fantastic condition everything is in. Could I get some others' opinions on the dial, case, and watch in general? Thank you.
Looks good to me - correct crown, original dial, pretty crisp case, etc. These do come up once in a while in that condition or better. I sold Trey / astrosfan one in even better shape a while back.
What about the hour markers? I usually see single bars all around or single with double bars at 12 3 6 9, but these ones are double with triple. Could someone share some insight on the originality of those? Thanks.
Ah, but they are "mini bars" . Omega has a l a r g e variety of marker and dial designs. They look fine to me
Lume might have been redone (looks very new) but there's a possibility that it's original. Overall, it's a nice watch!
As a newbie, I have to ask: what is the protocol / etiquette practiced with regards to listings that are inquired about on the forum? I had my eye on this auction, then saw this thread...
This watch has it,s original dial ,case and hour markers. Have one exactly the same. That,s a good buy. Gongratz
Technically the original poster has "dibs" on it, but it's of course up to you whether or not you will respect that.
I see nothing wrong. If the case reference number matches other known originals with the same number, then I think you are good to go here. Take care, gatorcpa
Its not /that/ literal, if the man was watching the auction beforehand then he's totally fine bidding on it, otherwise we'd have everyone calling out every ebay item they liked lol
I agree with that. This is a gentlemen's agreement because there are so many lurkers you would never know if you had just pointed out a great auction for someone that doesn't even log in.
Thanks, didn't mean to hijack the thread... I guess a good rule of thumb is: if I'm not interested in a piece before I see if on the forum, then I won't compete with the poster.
There are a lot of private messages that fly around also when someone is interested in a watch someone else has posted. If I post a watch I (usually) make it clear if I am interested in buying/bidding, or just to discuss
Yup, & I absolutely love it too! Just a question though, is the movement in the DeVille pictured accurate? I mean, does it belong with the case? Everything else looks beautiful.
