Hello, I am planning to purchase this watch online but I can not find any information or even similar photo or indication of reference 166.056 with CAL 752. I know the sizes and the movement but there is no real information or photos on this watch online! I understand 166.036 is very popular and similar to this watch but when I search 166.056 I find Consellation models! Is it fake? Or is it really a rare peace from 70's or late 60's? How much roughly you think it could cost? I appericate if you could let me know.
You're reading the case number incorrectly, it is 166.036. I would avoid this particular example as the dial has been refinished, which has a big negative impact on value.
I see a movement issue that may not have been corrected. Dials pretty @X350 XJR what makes you think redial? The furniture matches others and everything else seems to line up.
The dial is indeed pretty, although it looks refinished to me too. It is odd to have the T's next to the 'swiss made' when there are no lume plots present on the dial. The original would most likely have had tritium plots to match the hand set.
No lume plots at the ends of the figures, incorrect minute track for this style dial and the SWISS MADE should be below the second track. Dials with this type of figures were done as two-tones both the day/date and date only. Also note how the accenting black paint has been removed from the figures on OPs watch because they wouldn't have read well against the all black dial Simply screams resale black too.
Good god you're right. This is insane! Thank you for your inputs....wow! I never seen such a heavy paint job on a watch. It's totally a different watch. When I saw it at first I was shocked. I never seen a vintage Omega with a black dial like that. Although I have to admit it looks really good and I still tempted to buy it but I can't really sell it in future so probebly going to avoid. The price is $650. what do you think? Does it worth it?
Hi guys, I've been offered this Omega Seamaster Cosmic Day Date 166.036. I've attached some photos so please let me know what you think. I've bargained it down to US$ 300.
I am no expert, but a few things: A) The experts may want to see movement shots B) The "a" in Seamaster looks funny to me. I could be very wrong, but the dial seems to be "off". Look at other Cosmics with this model number that are known to have authentic dials and compare them. Learn how the dial should look on the watch you want. Be an expert on that dial type and hunt only for that style watch. If you like the watch, $300 isn't horrible, but factor in that it MAY need service and be runny cruddy, so that would push the price closer to $600-$700 overall. Just my 2 cents
