I have this brown 2998-5, that I showed a few days ago and would like to buy 1 modern Seamaster to wear it in change to my other watches.

Maybe you guys can help ? Which one would you prefer and why ? Should be one of those 4:

I’d go classic black or blue personally. Buy on bracelet and add rubber.

I quite like the others though.

Yep I agree since the original Bond Seamaster was blue and on the bracelet. (was also quartz if one wants to really be exact) :D

I'd agree on the original blue with bracelet. However, to choose among the photos offered, I'd go with the Nekton. Really sharp looking, imo.

Thanks a lot so far. I think the nekton reminds me too much to the rolex yachtmaster and the dial of JB edition is maybe a bit overloaded. I like black dials more than blue ones.

In the end it could be a decision between the classic black and this 007 edition. I like brown colors and also like that this 007 edition is very different with the milanaise band. But also like the black classic seamaster....

Tough call. I actually really like the NTTD -- but not at its premium over the standard version. The 007 does nothing for me, although the box and kit it comes with are pretty interesting, and the Nekton just look off-balance to me, especially in comparison to the near-perfection of the base model and the beauty of the NTTD.

The 2018 SMP is one of the great all-rounders on the market, and still offers excellent value, if not quite the standout value it did before the price hikes where I am. And the black dial option is absolutely classic, IIMO.

But I sure wouldn't kick the NTTD out of my watch box if it turned up there lo one of these days...

007 ruined by the broad arrow.

Black then nekton, both on rubber.

I wouldn’t say ruined, but agree that 007 seems to be overpriced.

Classic blue for me. Has the right dial and bezel colour combo to really pop and not look washed out like the Nekton. I’d have picked the JB version if it had a little less gun barrel rifling effect. The addition of the gold accents really does it for me.

Definitely not the NTTD. It’s a nice idea but the faux retro is way too overdone. Matt dial is nice though.

Note that the NTTD only has one layer of AR coating, on the inside. It's impossible to read the dial in almost any condition.

It was my first Seamaster 300M, and I got rid of it within a week.... but now I think I want a black dial. Would love the Nekton because no-date, but the yachtmaster bezel bothers me.

Good to know about the dial reading....and yes, I think the nekton is out, the yacht master bezel is a deal breaker to me, otherwise a really nice watch.

NTTD for me. It’s thinner than the regular Seamaster, has no date (probably a con for most of you), and cool lume.

Of those four, I'd take the classic diver 300m. You should consider the 2019 ceramic version though. I really enjoy mine.

Back from Omega Boutique today. I could see the black and blue classic seamaster, nekton and NTTD.

The nekton did not really flash me, because of it's bezel. The NTTD is nice and special, but a bit too dark for me. I was surprised about the BLUE classic seamaster. Very nice color and the blue rubber band looks nice too. The BLACK one is nice, no question.
So I think it will be a decision between blue and black classic seamaster....

Of the four you’ve presented, the black standard issue SMP is my choice. But i think one of these 2 variants of the modern SMP would pair quite nicely with your 2998-5:

NTTD number 3 above. The most expensive one.

Because it’s your money and I love spending other people’s money.

Myself I would buy a PO instead as it’s a better looking watch and doesn’t have those ugly hands like the Seamaster
