Curious as to peoples thoughts on this one, reminds me of my speedmaster MKII, its a 1968 model and comes with box and papers, chronograph is not working and current bid is about £800, really like the look of the watch just want peoples honest opinions if its worth a punt or not

How can someone with an Escort Mexico as an avatar not give it a punt?

But in any case I'd say it's well worth a try.

Had that bad boy for 30 years now, part of my retirement fund along with everything else 😉 have enjoyed many moments of a bit of steer from the rear and laying down number 11's on the road 😁😁 nearly bought a MK2 RS 1800 in the late nineties for 9k off a local fella, if only I had ::facepalm1::::facepalm1::::facepalm1::

Fastest Escort I've driven was an RS Cosworth, but sadly my job was not to drive it quickly but to report back to an offshore buyer that it existed and was the real deal. It was then dismantled and dispatched to the new owner in several crates, each carried by a different shipper. I spent some time navigating in UK road and stage rallies in an Escort in the 1970s, but it was a 1300 and horribly over-carburetted by the owner who thought "bigger carbs mean more power". Only with a lot of other expensive modifications sucker :whipped:

Do you have any more pictures. All I can see from that is that it’s likely in reasonable shape, the case like it may be decent and it comes with a nice box. More detailed photos are required to assess the actual watch.

I tend to think along the lines of, “original box and papers are nice, but they should enhance a nice watch. No point in having a nice box but a naff watxh”

I got one of these on kind of a whim a few months ago and it has become a favorite. Mine cost about £800 but the stopwatch function worked. It looks like the one in your post is just running the stopwatch all the time as a seconds hand, which doesn’t seem ideal. That said, the box and watch combo is extremely groovy.

[edit: Whoops, didn’t realize all the bad photos were going to be posted, too.]

The pictures are far from perfect but it seems like it might be in good shape with a strong case. The fact that you can’t be certain from those pictures might impact how strong the bids are.

Personally I think it’s ridiculous sellers of expensive watches can’t take better pictures when an iPhone and a bit of daylight is all that’s required. Especially when the watch may in in good condition and good pics would show it off.
