In what regard do you need help in choosing? You provide us with no parameters on which to base our decision and neither do you give us your thoughts regarding these two watches....

Well the Seamaster has a Cal. 564 and the Constellation a Cal. 264. Given their chronometer certification, can I assume that both these two mechanisms comparable in terms of quality? Also, both watches appear genuine and original to me but I would appreciate other views on this. Finally, I would be interested in general opinions as to preference (if any) and why, in the hope that this would provide some perspective to someone new to the Omega world.

@Zuko, this was my first Omega. Still love it (wasn't so far purchase so :whistling:)!
Any choice you'll do, you won't be disapointed. The first already have a different taste ;)

The both look like 561 or 564 models to me. I think you have a mistake in your calibre for the Constellation.

Both of these are 550 series automatic movements and all of these can be made to run to the same standard if your watchmaker has the time. The quality is basically the same as are most of the parts.

I don't find either watch attractive though and especially the Seamaster as the dial is very damaged. Have you looked on the sales forum here? I don't know how much is being asked for these but you'll probably get a better deal here. Do you have the prices?

    Cheers, Chris

I agree and just to add that I always find an asking price very handy to know when potentially advising on a watch purchase.

    First of all welcome @Zuko
I know you posted in the wrong thread originally and now might feel you’re getting a bit of a hard time.

This is actually a friendly forum but members get a bit itchy around the scattergun approach - they will help you if you help them.

    Couple of tips from me:
What attracts you to the watches you posted? - the case styles are quite different.
If you like Constellations look at the dedicated show and tell thread. There are many variations - some like the Seamaster and some like the late round cased Connie.
If you like Seamasters then search the forum for those threads.
Try to pin down what you find floats your boat and focus on that.

Thanks Chris - the seamaster is £485 and the Connie is £595.

You are right btw - both are Cal. 564. I can’t really afford the top notch versions on the market but would like a Chromometer certified model. I personally like both cases but am drawn to the simple and slim shape of the Connie. I know dial refinishing is frowned upon but I was wondering whether a new crystal would be enough. Cheers Jm

I’d buy the Constellation because I don’t like the schmutz on the Seamaster dial.

If the Seamaster was nicer I would have chosen it because those cases wear very nicely.

Out of the two I’d go for the Connie too.
(But I have a thing for round cased Connies)
The case is nice and crisp.
Not a bad price but depends on how much of the crud is on the crystal rather than on the dial -especially the rusty looking marks around the centre.

Thanks for the helpful views - I think I will go with the Constellation and replace the crystal.

If you’re trying to keep within a budget then the crystal can be polished as it looks okay and appears to be the original one.
You’ll need to have the watch serviced so have it done by the watchmaker at the same time - will save you £50

At £600 for the Connie, if it's not been serviced then it's still a significant amount. There is some apparent damage to the dial so it's not a great bargain and I think you'd do better to look here.

    Good luck anyway, Chris
