    Hi,

not familiar with Seamaster Chronographs so far.

Saw this one (drawer find, on sale right now) but couldn't find another example with this red half indices.
    Lume missing only at 3, 6, 9 and 12??

No other information available from seller, no movement pics :(

    What do you think?

    Thanks for looking, take care

...And send a link to the sale to me.

    Purely academical interest, naturally.

Really? Case looks odd even if a 145.029 or a 145.006

dial seems made up, should be a radial at least. Crown appears wrong.

    What am I missing?

I am not a buyer for this - had it been a low BIN I might have taken a punt, but not in an open auction as I am not totally comfortable in the watches of this era. But I'll say that the browning of the dial, the subdial and dial print all looks good to me; too good for it to be a fabrication. The possibly missing T's and the weird quality of the red markers are worries of course - I would suggest that it could well be a (old) put-together with an original dial...

If I was a more courageous soul, I'd throw out the "P-word" about the dial. And no, not "Pisstake" ;)

EDIT: My guess is that this will probably end early and the dial will end up in a different watch in either a large auction house or with an online dealer.

It could simply have been relumed. Everything else looks correct to me, except maybe the crown and/or hands. A little poly watch or a new crystal and that will look pretty damn good IMO.

...but by all means, please scare off all other bidders!

    It boils down to:

    1) Are you willing to gamble, and if so up to what price?

    2) How much experience, or access to information, do you have for those C-case Seamaster chronographs?

After translating the page and going to the "contact seller" page, it turns out he doesn't ship internationally. Item located in Germany.

Great for everyone else, not so good for me. Good luck to any of our EU members!

Absolutely not imo. Juste a fakked up Exotic dial with wrong hands in a tired case...

So now you have another one for reference ;) it is normal that there’s no lume at 3-6-9-12 as you can see. The movement can be either 321 or 861. Besides the one we discuss :

There are 2x 321s known so far
There is 1x 861 known so far

I have seen it appearing on the bay about 10 days ago, even didn’t watch it, considering the condition... ::facepalm2::

If the seller were shipping to the US, I'd have replied to your post with a "SHUSH!!!!" and tried to bribe you to delete most of it. :p

Those hands could be sold to some Speedmaster Junkie who "sources" parts like that, so you could charge a kazillion dollars. Then, you could take your time and "find" the correct hands. After what the Fan Boy paid, less the cost of the correct replacement hands, you might very well have covered most of the cost of the entire watch.

Isn't the first time; won't be the last. Same for all of us.

I should have made a photograph of David’s face (the watchmaker at The Omega Museum) when he checked my red hands and said... « Mmmmmmhhh.... Whhhaaat the heck ! Those appear to be original. UNOBTAINIUM !!! » His face was totally priceless.

    Just sayin. ;)
