Hello Omega Community, First thread in this forum. I'm a vintage watch lover, and although my hart is more with Rolex and Tudor, I enjoy vintage Omegas a lot. I own a NOS Seamaster Chrono. It's really New Old Stock, comes from a jewelry that shut down 25 years ago. This watch was never sold to the public. I really like it the way it is and not planning to use it. Is a jewel I just love to watch and touch but don't think I'll enjoy wearing it and knocking it here and there. Some pictures of this real beauty: It's caliber beats at 21,600 bps and shows an amazing accuracy on the timegrapher. I guess the movement is 861. I would say is from the early to mid 70's. I'd like to hear the opinions from Omega enthusiasts regarding this timepiece, which reference is, etc in order to learn more about it. Thanks, HAMMER STRENGHT
The reference seems to be a 145.029. This reference does indeed have a 861 movement in it. Yours is a lovely example. It is a shame to see it lying around in a draw. (dibs if you are planning on selling it)
Thanks for your note. In another forum where I presented the watch there were a lot of comments regarding this kind of watches should be wear or not. I fully understand I'm in minority, but I don't need to wear it to enjoy it. I have it on my desk, and keep on watching it all the time. Is great to stare at it. I can spend long sessions watching it under the lupe. I have a few other watches I can wear with no remorse at all. Cheers,
Thank you for the info. This won't be a drawer dweller. It gets a lot of touching. I just don't feel like using it. I don't think I'll ever come across a watch like this again.
I'd be hesitant to wear it or handle it as well. A small scratch or scuff would drive me crazy. Beautiful piece!
If you said that to 99% of the population I'd image you'd get a reaction like this... But, hey, you're a watch guy and I totally get it. I can just look and admire a watch for what seems like hours. The wife thinks I'm nuts. Stare in good health
You got it! I've actually used it as my pocket watch for a few days too, obviously with a nice leather travel pouch. Don't want to knock it Cheers,
Nope, not at all. It NOS. unopened. I would service it though. I just need to find the right watchmaker. I don't want o take any chance with it.
I was planing to have a go but something came up. Seen both watches live before auction and both real NOS so congratulatins to a exelent buy.
It is the Lauritz.com watch? Fantastic looking, congrats on your purchase If I were you, I'd either service it and wear it, or leave it as it is and keep it unwound.
