Hi everyone, Alex has a Seamaster Chronograph Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Networkwith a blue dial on sale, dating from about 1972. It looks to be in decent condition to my untrained eyes, though there is perhaps some dirt on the rotor? (it looks a bit spotty). I'm attracted to the blue dial, and the 38mm diameter is good for my skinny wrists. I'd appreciate fellow forumers' advice as to whether this is a good buy. Also, what would a fair price be for this watch - around US$1400? Or more? Thanks!
It looks ok. I,d ask specifically if the chrono resets back sharply to zero ( 12 o/c), ask about the sunburst finish on the bezel ( it doesnt look great to me - as if done recently), ask if the case has been polished on the sides (i think it has been) and of course, as you spotted, movement needs a good clean and service. these are nice watches though
The case was probably redone, but it isn't a bad looking job at first glance. I'd expect it to sell between $1400 - $1700, but given the seller's reputation it might net more.
and here is one with the white totalisator an the shiny indexes. What I,like most with this one is the old minute hand withthe thin tip and the racing strap
2800 USD? Mine is available for that price It was offered with a Racing strap like this in the 70ies. I like it much more than with the steelstrap.
That's so great, thanks for the info! i'm really wanting one, but the one i've found is slightly more 'worn in'...
Wow... I am surprised at the final price with the bracelet is not the original one that would have sold with the watch. The original bracelet was a 1170 with 653 end links. Here is a picture of mine. I think I paid less than 20% (6 years ago) of what this example sold for
Are these 1040 caliber Omegas becoming more popular, its been a long time since I looked at the market prices, mine a 34257xxx seems t be quite an early one 1972 according to Mr Maddox data sheet and 20micron GF so therefore not as sought after as the SS version I presume.
they are very comfortable to wear. The chrono function is much more convenient and there is a date and no hand winding I actually wonder, why the are underestimated by the sports Omega collectors
Trying to share a pic of my 176.007 (blue dial and blue tachy ring). Maybe my all time favorite chronograph layout. A fantastic Lemania sourced movement made exclusive for Omega with the addition of the 24h indicator in the left sub dial. Many people claim the movements are identical with the 1340/1341 used in Tissot, Bucherer and other period chronos, however the 24h function is as far as I can figure it out an Omega exclusive.
