Hi all,
Just curious, when did Omega start putting the hippocampus sea emblem on the back cases of Seamaster watches?

Did you find a year? I'm interested. Don't know the exact year off hand. 1940s?

In this case "Seamaster Caseback Emblem" would currently come up with nothing useful.

Care to share what you found?

"Introduced in 1956, the seahorse logo was engraved on the caseback of the Seamaster and the Railmaster, which was primarily a water-resistant watch with specific protection against magnetic exposure.

So, with the 1957 launch of the trilogy collection in (consisting of the Seamaster, Speedmaster, and Railmaster), Omega issued a line of professional watches engraved with the new mythical seahorse logo.
The emblem was officially adopted in 1958 to signify the Seamaster's water-resistant capabilities

Yeah it's hard to decipher. Seems to say that they engraved the first caseacks with the seahorse in 56, didn't sell any until 57, and made it official in 58.

The Logo was used first in 1956 intermittently with various models but not on all. There were Seamaster watches with cases that didn't have the logo, same with the 1957 models. In 1958 the logo became the official logo for all Seamasters. Again strangely enough, even after that date there are Seamaster watches without the logo on the caseback.
