Yesterday I picked up a rather nice 166.003 Seamaster but t some point in its life the dial has been scrubbed and "cleaned", removing both the text and laquer ... as a result it's looking more than tired. In fact, it looks attrocious. So, I have two choices, put in a replacement dial or have this one redone. I'm trying for a correct replacement first.

So, I'm in need of a dial with gold coloured indices. Doesn't need to be perfect but it does need to be correct. I'm sure some of you will have a dial or thirty in a drawer. If you can part with one, please let me know.

The watch is circa 1963 (20,040xxx) and houses a cal 562.

Failing that, the watch (which is in otherwise good, unserviced, condition) may be for sale if you have the dial and don't want to part with it.

    I'll upload a photo later.

    Thanks, all.

This is the best one I have. I have others but this is the nicest.

That's lovely but I need a calendar one - date aperture at the 3 o clock. I'm surrounded by antique glassware that I've been sorting for hours but let me make a space and I'll post a photo!

Here's what I'm working with. While the class and dial are shot, the case is good and the movement great ... so, some TLC and a nice new dial should make a good everyday Seamaster (he said).

    How silly of me.
Have a look through these and let me know if you need a closer look at any of them. Most are fit for dial furniture but a few are good enough.

So, you've got a dial or two?

In your 7th and 8th photos, on the right and near the centre on both, it looks like there's some 5 dials in total that are promising. The current dial is silver with gold furniture, do any of those match that with "Seamaster" and no "automatic" ?

Sorry to sound picky but i'd like to get the correct one if I can.

Just had a look through but all have the word "automatic"
Doing a google image search the 166.003 should have automatic on the dial?

    Cheers, Michael

Sorry - she's hiding an automatic indeed. I was working on a Geneve earlier, I'm obviously having a senior moment and confusing the two. Any and all of those dials sound like they're right for the watch. What would you like for one of them? I can offer parts, beer or cash!
