In researching for a possible watch purchase I obtained a number of images from OF to determine the correct font for the Seamaster Calendar ref 2849 cal 503 produced from 1956 to 1962.

I used images from OF as they would have undergone a degree of scrutiny as most of these are taken from sales posts. I'm more than happy to remove any images if the the sellers/new owners request.

I hope these may be of some help to anyone also researching this reference and if anyone would like to contribute some more pictures please feel free to do so.

Thanks for posting! Very nice of you to collate all your research and to share it with others. I’ve saved it for future reference ;)

I’ve just come across this dial variation (not the best of quality) and I have honestly never seen a minute track like this on this model. Trying to figure out if it’s a redial or not...

    What are your thoughts?

It looks nice but I wouldn’t want a redialed one!

    All the best,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

The spelling of "Calender" on the dial is a dead giveaway!

    Have another Omega 2849 (4SC?)
A rare version with black gilt dial.
Please notice the golden writing on dial and the coathanger S.

    Hello
Just to add, some 2849's don't have the word calendar at all on the dial I believe.
