Seamaster bracelet fitting.

I bought a seamaster 120 166.088 a while back and really wanted to fit it with its appropriate bracelet. Having first bought the 650 endlinks i took a punt on an original 1171 with trapeze emblem in the clasp. To my frustration I couldn't fit the springbars in with the endlinks to marry up with the bracelet it just wouldn't happen. Is there something misfitting with this or did I buy the wrong bits.
Feeling consfued.

get a bracelet buckle extension

Yeah the buckle wasn't the problem...I ended up sending the bracelet back which I'm now regretting as I got it for a good price.
Still need a 1171 suited to the watch for this model if anyone knows whereabouts?
